Access Control to London City Airport

We were asked to install a safety induction loop and exit induction loop to the refuelling depot at London City Airport. The contract came through Pembury Fencing who supplied and installed security fencing to the site whilst also organising the installation of a pair of bi-folding speed gates.

The induction loops create a magnetic field that is interrupted when a large metallic object such as a vehicle passes over them. In each instance the induction loops are triggered to either give an open command to the gate automation system, or a stop command for the safety induction loop.

The installation involved cutting two slots in the drive surface and laying a loop of cable for each induction loop.  We filled the slots neatly resulting in a discrete installation. The loops were finely tuned to detect both domestic and industrial vehicles as per the sites requirements.
