Wooden Gates
Fine joinery grade timber gates from H.B. Paynter Gates Ltd. are tailored to your application, whether a design from our portfolio or a bespoke creation. Each gate is typically constructed in a large variety of hard or soft woods that are planed and sanded to give the highest possible finish. Highly skilled craftsmen working from CAD drawings construct the gates with a belt and braces approach using solid timber and traditional methods. The leaves are fully dowelled and are treated with wood preservatives during construction to ensure that all ends are protected. Any tongue and groove panels are constructed with gaps to prevent joints from being forced with seasonal expansion and contraction. We apply a two stage ‘Sikkens’ stain/preservative to enhance the appearance of the wooden gates and to provide both weather and UV light protection. The gates are installed with fully adjustable hinges to allow for any settlement or movement of the gates or piers/posts in the future and a centre stop is installed to give a firm closed position.
Metal Gates
Ornate steel driveway gates designed and supplied to your specification from H.B. Paynter Gates Ltd. are fabricated in box section mild steel to provide a lighter yet strong structure. The outer frames are predominantly 50mm x 50mm with 25mm x 25mm infill bars, the completed items are heavily galvanised to ensure that you are free from any structural corrosion for many years to come. We typically prime and finish the gates in a satin black to give a traditional wrought iron appearance. The gates are installed with fully adjustable hinges to allow for any settlement or movement of the gates or piers/posts in the future and a centre stop is installed to give a firm closed position. The electric gates can be fitted to masonry piers or supplied with new matching steel posts. All steel driveway gates can be enhanced with numerous decorative adornments to individualise your installation.
Automating Existing Driveway Gates or Security Gates
In most circumstances, existing driveway gates or security gates can be automated with either underground, surface mounted or sliding gate automation kits. Both wooden and metal gates can be retro-fitted with gate automation. Any additional fabrication work is done so with the utmost care and attention by fully trained fabricators. Any exposed metal is primed and painted to match the colour of the existing metal gates. If any additional hinges are required to wooden gates we only ever used fully galvanised metal that is either bolted or screwed to the wood taking all necessary precautions to ensure the wood is not damaged in any way.
